Russian Icons. Gunnar Savisaar’s Collection
The best of Gunnar Savisaar’s icon collection (16th–20th century) will be on display – including icons with well-known iconography as well as those with unusual subjects. Examples of well-known Russian icon painting schools will be exhibited: icons from Moscow, Jaroslavl, Mstjora and Palekh, as well as icons of the Russian Old Believers from Estonia. The exhibition is part of a series of exhibitions at the Mikkel Museum introducing private collections in Estonia.
Portraiture in Fine Art. Based on Estonian Private Collections
The exhibition focuses on people – people as they are portrayed in works of art, people who paint portraits, and people who collect portraiture – and examines changes in portraiture through time.
